Hi, I’m Michael Brandes
A creative (copywriter) and artist. I work in advertising and make art on the side.
It's a bit weird to be a writer while having a background in visual art, I know. But here’s how it happened.
I went to art school. For my master’s thesis my art was trying to get better at basketball. For that I was conferred as a master of fine arts.
Then I had to get a job. So I went into advertising, cause it seemed fun and creative.
It took a while. Had to work on a food truck for a few years while I made an ad portfolio.
From that I got a job at Wieden+Kennedy. They brought me in as a writer cause my art had become so conceptual I was basically just writing.
I worked there for six years.
Now I am a freelance creative and copywriter.
